Cigar Store Etiquette
Getting to know the staff: When starting to spend a lot of time at a certain cigar lounge, get to know the staff, starting with the manager. These people are the most knowledgeable in the store and building a relationship with them will help you explore different cigar varieties without accidentally getting a cigar you don’t enjoy. Be sure to describe the flavors you enjoy so the retailer can recommend cigars with similar characteristics.
Bringing cigars from home: When entering a cigar lounge, it is common courtesy to purchase the cigar from the retailer. Bringing a cigar from home can offend the store manager and ultimately, you are taking money from the store.
Socializing: When smoking in a lounge, contribute to the conversation but remember to listen too. No one likes a show-off that won’t let anyone get a word in. Also, welcome all new-comers if you are a regular. After all, they’re there for their love of the leaf just like you.
Advice to others: Do not tell your fellow cigar aficionados how to smoke or what to smoke. Everyone has different preferences and you should only offer your advice if asked
Sharing accessories: Always bring your own cutter and lighter (XIKAR of course). It is okay to let others use your accessories so you can show off how cool they are, but do not solely rely on others to cut and light your stogie.
Have fun and enjoy! Most importantly, relax and have fun. Cigar lounges are a great place to unwind with friends and enjoy the camaraderie among aficionados.
The Cigar Boxx will be celebrating the birthdays of two of our members (AKA-Usual Suspects) on Sunday April 15th. The birthdays we will be celebrating will be Robert “FNG” Gannon’s and Joe Price’s. The Cigar Boxx Family wishes to remember John Gallagher on St. Patrick’s Day. He was a valued member of the Boxx, a friend to all, a die-hard Philly sports fan and a fierce competitor on the golf course. He left this earth way to early. He is sadly missed by all.

The Cigar Boxx is proud to have Chef Pam as a member of our family. She was involved in an event on Presidents Weekend at the Krispy Kreme factory in Miami. The event proceeds went to our returning troops suffering PTSD. Way to go Pam!!!!
The Cigar Boxx is proud to be part our previous owners premier event: The Atlantic City Beer and Music Fest. This event will take place at the Atlantic City Convention Center on March 30 and 31. There are 3 sessions; Friday 3/30 7-11 pm, Saturday 3/31 12-4 pm and Saturday 3/31 6-10 pm. Tickets are $50 in advance online at Ticketmaster or at both locations of Joe Canals. Jon Henderson also has a tremendous lineup of bands during each session. The Cigar Boxx will be at all of the sessions selling cigars so come say hello. You don’t want to miss this exciting event.
